Find the right control
- Open Settings from the user menu, or press Cmd+, on macOS or Ctrl+, on Windows.
- Use Settings search or the tab rail to find a control.
- Edit the intended value and read any validation message.
- Choose Save settings for saved preference changes, or Cancel to leave unapplied drafts.
| Area | What belongs there |
|---|---|
| Preferences | Session naming, AI commit messages, Voice, Dictation, Read aloud, cloud account data |
| Models | Model catalog, API Keys, Azure OpenAI/Foundry, custom models |
| Code Harnesses | Harness installation, access routes, visibility, and defaults |
| Worktrees / Browser / Source Control | Code workspace and repository preferences |
| Devices / Sounds | Audio hardware, interface cues, and notification preferences |
| History / Image | Chat-history deletion and image-generation defaults |
| Usage / Updates / Appearance | Recorded activity, app updates, and display preferences |
Understand immediate actions
Appearance changes save live. Provider sign-in and sign-out can change a shared CLI credential before you press Save settings. Exports, explicit deletion confirmations, and other action buttons are also operations rather than ordinary preference drafts.
Consequently, Cancel is not universal undo. Read the immediate action’s own confirmation, especially when changing the account used by a CLI outside Rudr.
If saving fails
Read the field’s validation or save error, correct the invalid value, and retry the specific change. Check the control after reopening Settings before assuming persistence. Avoid re-entering a secret simply because a masked field appears empty; inspect whether the key is already configured.
Continue with models and keys, appearance, or history and data.
