Install and detect Claude Code
- Open Settings → Code Harnesses → Claude Code.
- If Rudr shows a missing-CLI panel, choose Install Claude Code. Read the command and download host, then choose Download and run it to authorize that installer.
- Wait for completion and the installation status refresh. A successful installer exit does not mean the account is authenticated.
- If it fails, read the error and choose Try again only after resolving its cause. Use Open install docs or the official Claude setup instructions for an external installation matching your OS and shell.
- After an external install, verify
claude --versionin a new terminal, fully quit Rudr, reopen it, and return to this settings page. Rudr checks PATH and known installation locations; arbitrary custom locations and a WSL-only installation are not guaranteed to be detected by native Rudr.
Connect a Claude subscription
- Select Claude subscription in the access controls.
- If signed out, choose Open Terminal & Sign In. Complete the CLI-owned
claude auth loginflow in the opened terminal. Copy Command provides a fallback if launching the terminal fails. - Return to Rudr and allow the status check to complete. Choose Refresh status if offered, then Save settings.
- In a new Code task, select an offered Claude model and check its readiness before sending.
If the account is an API account when you intended subscription access, use the panel’s account-recovery instructions. Logging out and back in changes the credential used by Claude Code outside Rudr too. On Windows, if the combined recovery command fails, run claude auth logout and then claude auth login as separate commands in the appropriate shell. Cancelling Settings does not undo a completed CLI login.
Use API or Foundry access
Open Settings → Models, configure the Anthropic key or Foundry connection, and save it. Return to Code Harnesses → Claude Code, select Anthropic API or Foundry, check readiness and model discovery, then save. These routes use their respective API accounts; a subscription allowance is not an API credit balance.
If Claude is detected but cannot run, use access troubleshooting. Native platform sign-in walkthroughs remain pending for this documentation draft; the steps describe the implemented UI and verified upstream installation guidance.
