Import work from another coding tool

Bring supported local coding-tool history into Rudr for the same folder. Choose native resume only when eligible; otherwise use an untrusted handoff that does not replay old actions.

Import from a folder

  1. Open the relevant folder in Code so it appears in the sidebar.
  2. Open that folder’s menu and choose Import.
  3. In Import a session, use Filter by title or source to find the history you want.
  4. Select the source and review Goal, Last request, Next, and any warning.
  5. Under Continue as, choose Native resume when available or Untrusted handoff.
  6. Choose Continue, then inspect the imported session, selected harness, and folder before sending a new request.

The picker recognizes local Claude Code, Codex, Grok Build, Muse Code, and OpenCode sources. Cursor is not an import source in this build. The picker lists local sessions for the selected folder, so a missing result can indicate a different workspace rather than lost history.

Native resume versus handoff

Native resume requires an eligible source and a matching available harness. A visible source transcript alone does not qualify it. If Native resume (unavailable) appears, use the handoff path when the preview is useful instead of trying to force another provider’s native format.

Foreign history is treated as untrusted and is never replayed as a series of historical tool actions. A handoff describes prior work for a new request; old instructions or success claims still need review. It does not establish that files, credentials, or external systems are in the same state today.

If import fails

Keep the original tool history and the folder intact. Record the source tool, version, selected folder, chosen mode, and displayed error. For work already in Rudr, use previous-session references; for an interrupted linked handoff, use continuation recovery.
